Fillings
A dental filling is a common procedure used to repair damaged teeth. It involves the removal of
decayed or damaged tooth material and replacing it with a filling material. Fillings are used to
address issues like cavities, cracks, fractures, and teeth worn down due to misuse. There are
various types of filling materials available:
Gold Fillings
Gold fillings are the most durable option but are also the most expensive. They are often used
for large cavities or in teeth subject to significant wear and tear.
Composite Resin Fillings These fillings are a mixture of plastic and glass particles. They are tooth-colored, can match the natural teeth color, and are popular for their durability and aesthetic appeal. They are also relatively affordable.
To get a filling, a dental visit is required. The dentist will assess the tooth's condition, remove the damaged portion, prepare the tooth for the filling, and then place and shape the filling material.
