Dental Implants - Types and Procedure
Dental implants are artificial devices used in dentistry to replace missing teeth. They are
typically made of biocompatible titanium, which fuses with the jawbone over time. There are
three main types of dental implants:
Endosteal Implants
These are the most common type of implants and are placed directly into the jawbone.
Subperiosteal Implants
These implants are positioned on top of the jawbone but beneath the gums. They are suitable for patients with insufficient bone to support endosteal implants.
Zygomatic ImplantsPlaced in the cheekbones, zygomatic implants are used for patients with severe upper jaw bone loss.
The choice of implant type depends on individual needs and circumstances, and your dentist will assist in selecting the most suitable one.
